AIMS & OBJECTIVES

This course is designed as a refresher course for contractors working on petrol station forecourts who have an existing Safety Passport nearing expiration.

COURSE CONTENT

CORE (AM session)

• Setting the scene - accidents
• Organising for safety - legal duties, risk assessment, consultation and enforcement
• The Workplace - general workplace rules and procedures, including fire and emergency
• Tools, plant and machinery - general workplace rules and procedures
• Health and Hygiene - including hazardous substances, manual handling, noise, stress etc
• The environment - including pollution and waste

PETROL (PM session)

• Hazards on the forecourts, Hazard Areas, Communication, Work Control Documents, Task Classification, The role of the Petroleum Officer
• Setting up a safe place of work, Confined Spaces, Excavations, Hotwork, Working at height, Electricity on a forecourt
• Hazard spotting/risk assessment exercise

   

TARGET AUDIENCE

Managers and employees of contractors already holding a valid Safety Passport that needs renewing.  (This can be completed up to 6 months prior, or no longer than 3 months after the expiry of the original pass date)

PRE-COURSE PREPARATION

Delegates must bring their existing pass and new passport sized photographs to the course.

CERTIFICATION

Delegates successfully completing the course will receive a SPA Safety Passport which is valid for a further three years.
