Training undertaken at client specific locations and Open courses nationwide (this course makes up 'Day 1' of all of our SPA Safety Passport courses and can be attended without attending the subsequent respective 'Sector' day.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

To give participants an understanding of general health and safety.   The course provides grounding in the essentials of health and safety.  Everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must work safely and this course offers exactly that.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Setting the Scene - Accidents
  • Organising for safety - including responsibilities, duties, and risk assessment, consultation, & enforcement officers
  • Workplace safety - including general workplace safety requirements, behavioural safety, fire safety, working at height, hidden services, asbestos, confined spaces, and display screen equipment
  • Tools, Plant & Machinery - including hand held tools, electricity, and power tools
  • Health - including hygiene, hazardous substances, effects of the sun, temperature, occupational diseases, manual handling, vibration, noise and stress
  • Procedures - including safe systems of work, first aid requirements, and occupational road accidents
  • The environment - including pollution & waste, employers and employees responsibilities

    • TARGET AUDIENCE

    Designed for people from any sector with no supervisory or managerial responsibility. Particularly appropriate for those looking for a more suitable course for their operations/activities than IOSH Working Safely.

    PRE-COURSE PREPARATION

    None required

    CERTIFICATION

    Delegates successfully completing the course will receive a SPA Safety Passport which is valid for three years
