AIMS & OBJECTIVES
It is the responsibility of a petrol station operator and anyone who stores Petroleum Spirit, to ensure that any appointed person has the necessary competence to perform the activity safety. This competency is gained by a combination of training; this course aims to provide the delegate with the theoretical aspect of this.
Although this course is typically run for Petrol Station staff, it is suitable for anyone who has responsibilities for storing and dispensing fuel, such as car manufacturers, Logistics Companies, Marina’s and Golf Clubs for instance
COURSE CONTENT
This course predominately covers Assisted Delivery (License Controlled) procedures, but Un-Assisted procedures (Driver Controlled) can be covered if required. The following areas are covered during the course:
- Legal requirements (including the new DSEAR Regulations and the associated Approved Code Of Practice and Guidance Unloading Petrol form Road Tankers.
- Competent Person responsibilities
- Hazards associated with fuel
- Hazardsous Zones
- Fire
- Emergency procedures
- Receipt of delivery
- Vapour recovery
- Associated paperwork
- Multiple choice test paper
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is suitable for any person who will be responsible for receiving fuel deliveries.
The course is also suitable as refresher training (generally accepted at 12 monthly intervals).
PRE-COURSE PREPARATION
It would be useful for the delegate to have carried out some supervised deliveries on site beforehand in order to gain some practical awareness.
CERTIFICATION
Delegates successfully passing the end of course test will receive a SMTS training certificate.
